Planograms by Category

If one planogram consists of shelves that have different categories, you can use the Planograms by Category feature, which allows you to publish each category separately and at a different times, as each category has its own lifecycle.

Often we have a publication calendar in which the publication time of planograms for different categories varies. If one planogram consists of multiple categories, there may be a situation where we want to publish changes for one category on the first day of the month, for example, and for the other category in the middle of the month. If you enable the Planograms by Category feature, it is possible to publish the two changes at different times. This means, you create changes for one category and then for the other, but on the 1st day of the month you publish only the planogram for the first category, without overwriting the planogram for the second category with the changes you have pre-prepared for publishing in the middle of the month.

Publication of planograms by category requires enabling the settings in the Project Editor in the Project / Properties menu. In the new window, check the checkbox Planograms by Category.

Planograms by Category setting

How does the lifecycle of a planogram with multiple categories differ for a classic planogram and for a planogram by category?

Planograms by category

If the Planograms by Category checkbox is checked in the project, you will see a separate row for each combination of category-planogram when publishing the planogram in the Lifecycle tab. This means that if one planogram consists of 3 categories e.g. Wine, Beer and Drinks, you will see 3 separate rows for each category in the table for this one planogram. This allows you to select only one of those categories (e.g. Beers) and publish changes for that category only, leaving the rest of the planogram (Wine and Drinks categories) unchanged.

Category Wine

Category Beer

Category Drinks

Planogram not by category

If the checkbox Planograms by Category is not checked in the project settings, a planogram that consists of 3 different categories will have only one row in the lifecycle table and it is only possible to publish the planogram as a whole. So if you make changes in the Beer category and at the same time in the Wine category, you must publish the planogram as a whole with changes in both categories.

How to publish the planogram?

To publish a planogram, you must mark the row(s) corresponding to the planogram in the lifecycle table and then click the publish button. If you need to publish an entire planogram consisting of several categories, you must select all categories in the table.

Planogram by category on the web

After publication, the planograms are displayed on the Quant website.

If you click on the fixture on the floor plan you want to display a planogram for, a window will appear in which you select:

  1. Planogram state
  2. Category whose planogram you want to see (if the planogram consists of multiple categories).

Then click on the Planogram button to redirect to a page with a preview of this planogram.

Planogram by category on web

The planogram preview page contains:

    • detailed information about the planogram (category, variant, implementation date, etc.)
    • planogram preview - if it is a waiting or prepared planogram, it always shows a comparison with the original implemented planogram (crossed out planogram on the right)
    • buttons to download PDF

Click on the Confirm button to confirm the implementation of the waiting planogram.

When you confirm implementation for a planogram by category that consists of multiple categories, you always confirm the implementation only for the selected category. In our example, this is the 2nd shelf where the category Beer is displayed. To confirm the implementation of the remaining shelves of this planogram, you must always switch to the appropriate category using the button (see image below).
