Free Style Planogram Layout Changes
You can move, copy, rotate and more products or other components in the planogram. This manual provides an overview of the actions used to manipulate products or other components in a free style planogram.
All tools for editing the free style planogram layout can be found in the toolbar on the left in the Modify section.
The tools in the panel will allow you to perform the given modifications for all the components that you will have marked in the planogram. So you can manipulate, for example, a group of several products.
Copy (C)
Copies the selected products.
Copying products
- Select the products you want to copy.
- Click on the Copy icon or press C.
- Specify the starting point for copying. For example, this may be the corner of the product you want to copy.
- Click to specify where the products are to be copied.
- To end copying, press ESC.
Copying components by a specified distance
This option can be useful if you want the products to be separated by a certain distance.
- Select the products you want to copy.
- Click on the Copy icon or press C.
- Specify the starting point for copying and move the products in the direction they are to be copied.
- Type the distance between the copied products and the original ones. Then press ENTER.
- To end copying, press ESC.
You can activate the Snap function, which makes it easy to snap the product to another product. For example, you can copy products side by side and snap them together to make sure they are lined up in a row.
Copy to Pasteboard (Ctrl+C, Cmd+C)
This tool allows you to copy the selected product to the system clipboard so that you can then paste it (e.g. into another planogram) via the Paste function (Ctrl+V or Cmd+V).
Paste (Ctrl+V, Cmd+V)
Allows you to paste products that you have previously copied to the system clipboard.
Move (M)
This tool will allow you to move the inserted products.
There are multiple ways to move products.
Movement with the handle
- Click on the blue circle in the middle of the product.
- The second click specifies the location where the product should be moved.
Movement with arrows
You can also move the selected products using the arrow keys on the keyboard.
Movement with the Move tool
- Select the products you want to move.
- Click on the Move icon or press M.
- Specify the starting point of the movement by clicking (for example on the corner of the product).
- Click where you want the products to be moved.
Movement by a specified distance
- Select the products you want to move.
- Click on the Move icon or press M.
- Specify the starting point of the movement by clicking (for example on the corner of the product) and move the product in the direction where it should be moved.
- Type the distance by which you want the products to move and press ENTER.
You can activate the Snap function which makes it easy to snap a product to another product.
If you want to move the products, for example, in parallel, activate the Polar function. It allows you to move products only within standard angles (multiples of 15).
Rotate (R)
This function is used to rotate the components inserted into the planogram.
To rotate products, use the Rotation and Position tool (Shift+R) in the Product section or the Package Rotation property on the Component tab. Use this tool (Rotate - R) to rotate only other components in the planogram, such as a PDF or image.
In Quant, there are various ways how to rotate components. Each option can be useful in a certain situation.
Rotating manually
- Select the components you want to rotate.
- Click on the Rotate icon or press R.
- Specify the point around which the selected components should be rotated.
- Move the mouse to rotate the objects.
- Click to end the rotation and the components will be rotated.
If you want to rotate the components by a standard angle (multiple of 15), we recommend that you activate the Polar function.
Rotating by a specified angle with base point selection
If you know the angle by which the components are to be rotated, you can specify it during rotation.
- Select the components you want to rotate.
- Click on the Rotate icon or press R.
- Specify the point around which the selected components should be rotated.
- Set an angle by which the components should rotate.
- Press ENTER.
Rotating by a specified angle without base point selection
Another rotation option is to set the angle without base point selection. In this case, the object will rotate around its center and the rotation angle will be calculated from the default position of the object. So, if you set the angle to 0, the component will be rotated in the same way as newly inserted component into the planogram. This feature can be used especially in situations where you want to quickly align a randomly rotated component.
Align (A)
This tool allows you to align products, for example, along the boarders of fixtures, shelves, blockers or other components.
The following figures show how to align components along a slat in hanging system. First, select all the products you want to align and click on the Align tool in the toolbar or press A.
Rectangular Array
The tool allows you to quickly insert several identical products side by side or below each other. You can also define vertical or horizontal spacing between products.
- Select the default product you want to copy.
- Click on the Rectangular Array icon.
- Set the properties of the rectangular array.
- Base Point - indicates the position of the marked product.
- Columns / Rows - set the number of columns and rows you want to create from the selected product.
- Horizontal / Vertical Gap - here you set how much space should be added between the newly created products.
Mirror Copy
Using the Mirror Copy tool, you can mirror a selected product using 2 mirror points.
- Mark the products you want to mirror.
- Select the Mirror Copy tool.
- Click on the first base mirror point.
- Click on the second mirror point. In this case, it is a horizontal mirror. It is also possible to mirror a component at a certain angle.
Center (Shift+C)
The tool is used for centering products, e.g. you need to center the products in the middle of the fixture or you want them to be centered between the fixture blockers...
- Mark the products you want to center.
- Activate the Center tool (Shift+C).
- Draw a line to center the products in the middle of this line. The first click determines the first point of the line and the second click determines the second point.
To draw a straight line, activate the Polar function.
Spread
This tool allows you to place products at regular spacings. You can spread products evenly across the shelf without having to move each product manually, or you can specify how much spacing you want to create between them.
a) Target Distance
- Mark the products you wish to spread.
- Click on the Spread tool.
- Mark the Target Distance checkbox on the Tool tab.
- Draw a straight line along which to the products should be spread. First click specifies the first point of the line and the second click specifies the second point of the line.
To draw a straight line, activate the Polar function.
b) Own spacings
- Mark the products you wish to spread.
- Click on the Spread tool.
- Uncheck the Target Distance checkbox on the Tool tab.
EITHER
- Type a distance that indicates the size of the spacing.
OR
- Draw a straight line to indicate the size of the spacing.
Spread Tool properties
- Distance - indicates the size of the spacing between products. Fill in if you want to specify own spacing (example b).
- Spread Vertically - if checked, the products will be spread vertically. If you need to use horizontal spread, e.g. within a shelf, uncheck this box.
- Target Distance - is used to draw a straight line along which you want the products to be spread (example a). This is useful, for example, if you need to spread the products along the length of the shelf - you draw a straight line that follows the shelf and the products spread along it.
- Start & End Margins - if this box is checked, margins above the first product and below the last product will be added and will be the same size as the spacing between the other products.
- Move to First Point - if the box is checked, the products will move to the point you specify with the first click.
- Set Base Point - if the Move to First Point checkbox is checked, this is where you can set the position of the point you specify.
Align Top / Bottom / Right / Left
These tools are used to align products in one desired direction without the need to move the products.
- Mark the products you want to align.
- Select the appropriate Align tool.
- Press ENTER.
Bring to Front / Bring Forward / Send Backward / Send to Back
Use these tools to change the layering order of overlapping components.
- Select the products you want to bring into the front/back.
- Click on the appropriate tool.
Other useful functions
Polar (Shift+P)
When this function is activated, components or products are inserted, copied or rotated at standard angles (multiples of 15). This allows components to be inserted in parallel or rotated by exactly 90°, for example.
