Nested Products
Product nesting is used in situations where you need to display two different products one behind or on top of the other.
In this manual, you will learn:
- How to proceed when nesting a single product?
- How to proceed when nesting multiple products at once?
- What is a difference between nesting product above each other and below each other?
- How can you tell that there are nested products in a given position in the template and where can you find a list of these products?
- How can you change the order of nested products?
- Where and how you edit the properties of nested products?
- How can you nest a products within itself in the case of open products (flower pots, bowls)?
How do you nest the products?
A. Nesting of a single product
- In the product table, select the product you want to nest behind or above the selected product.
- Activate the Insert Products to Template (P) tool.
- Click on the position in the template where the first product is located.
- In the context menu, select Nest Top (T) or Nest Back (B).
- In the Component tab, you can set additional nesting properties.
Nesting - Steps
The following figure shows an example of products nested behind each other (Nest Back).
Nest Back
The following figure shows an example of products nested above each other (Nest Top).

B. Nesting multiple products
When nesting multiple products at once, proceed as in the first case, but before nesting, check the Insert Nested box on the right in the Tool tab (keyboard shortcut N).
There are two nesting options:
- Click on the product in the template behind/above which you want to nest: you will nest all products behind/above the product you have already placed in the template = you must select whether you want to nest top or back in the template context menu.
- Click on an empty space in the template: you will nest all products, and the product selected first will become the original product. Select the type of nesting (top, back) on the right in the Tool tab. You can then change the order of the products in the table with nested products.

Table with Nested Products
All products that are in one position in the template (the original product and all nested products) are displayed in the Component tab in the table.
In the planogram template, you can see that there are nested products in a given position by the number in the lower right corner of the block, which symbolizes the total number of products in that position.
Nested Products in the Table + Symbol
If any of the nested products fail to place for some reason, the symbol in the template will turn red and the unplaced products will be highlighted in red in the table.

Changing the order of nested products
You can change the order of nested products using the arrows.

Editing properties for nested products
For nested products, you can set the same properties as for non-nested products in the Component tab. If, for example, you want to set a different number of packages in width, height or depth, change the rotation or position of the product, etc., select the nested product in the table and then set the desired property for it in the Component tab.
Editing of Nested Product
Block properties in the Component tab are described more in detail in the Block Editing manual.
Nesting Properties
In the Component tab, you can set various nesting properties.
Type
Respect Width of Nested Products
- Marked = The width of nested products is respected. For example, if we have a wider product nested behind the original product, the width of the wider nested product is taken into account, and the product cannot overflow from the fixture or over another product.
- Not Marked = The width of the nested product is not taken into account; only the width of the original product is respected. This means that if a wider product is nested behind the original product, it may overflow from the fixture or over another product.
Respect Width of Nested Products
Nesting Alignment
Here you can set how nested products should be aligned. Use alignment when a nested product is less wide than the original product. By default, nested products are aligned to the center.

Basic Overlapping
Some products nest inside each other in the planogram due to their shape. For example flower pots or bowls that can be stacked inside each other, saving space on the shelf and allowing you to place more of them vertically. This type of display is enabled by the Basic Overlapping property, which defines how many centimeters of a nested product should overlap with the product below it.
Basic Overlapping in the Component tab
For products that are always displayed nested with overlap in the planogram, you can set the Basic Overlapping directly in the product properties in the Products section on the Packages tab. The setting is then applied each time the product is added to the planogram.
