Messages

In Quant, messages are used for clear and fast communication between individual users. Chat is available on both the Quant Web and in the desktop application, which enables effective communication, for example, between headquarters and individual stores. This manual describes the configuration options, including permission management for individual stores and access configuration for user roles.

Messages in Quant Desktop

You can find the Messages table in the menu under the Messages section.

The table is divided into Channels. When you expand a channel, you’ll see individual Topics. There are 3 types of channels:

    • Stores' Channel: This involves communication between you and a specific store. Messages are displayed to every user assigned to that store.
    • Users' Channel: This is communication between you and a specific user.
    • User Groups' Channel: This is communication between you and an entire group of users. The message is sent to every user who belongs to this group.

Creating Messages

In the Message Channels overview, you can sort all feeds, for example, in descending order by last update or by Channel Type—Users, Groups, and Stores each have their own icon.

On the right side, you’ll find the area for writing messages. You can create and name new topics, or contribute to existing topics; you can flag unresolved messages using a flag, and you can format the text itself.

In this case, there are two topics in the Product Manager user group channel.

Message Overview

There are two ways to create a new message:

    • By starting a new topic — when you need to create a new discussion topic.

    • By replying to an existing topic—when you need to respond to an existing topic.

Channel and Topic Table

In this table, you’ll find the following key metrics for quickly checking the state of communication and organizing your work:

    • Messages: Shows the total number of messages sent in a given topic or channel.
    • Unread: Displays the number of unread messages.
    • Unresolved: Serves as a personal bookmark. Here, a user can mark a message with a flag to indicate that they need to return to it later.
    • Last Modified: Displays the date and time when the last message was posted in a given thread or topic.

The user has a total of 12 messages from the London store, all of which have been read. The last message was delivered on September 17,2026. The message channel has been marked as unresolved.

Message Table

Using the controls above the table, you can easily filter messages, manage them in bulk, or quickly search through them:

    • Mark as Read — marks all messages as read.
    • Open Store — opens the store associated with the message channel.
    • Search — finds the search term in the messages.

Message Topics

These serve as categories for internal communication. When creating a new message, the author always assigns it a specific topic, which allows for targeted filtering at stores (employees see only what they are currently working on) and ensures clarity so that important instructions do not get lost in the flood of information.

Message Topics

Message Tags

They are a flexible tool for detailed organization, searching, and dynamically linking information in Quant. Unlike topics, where you can select only one main topic, you can assign any number of tags to a message. This allows for multi-level filtering and searching across different topics simultaneously (e.g., search for all messages tagged with “Supplier” or “Easter”).

In the administration interface, tags facilitate bulk management, archiving, and evaluation of messages by grouping them into logical units.

Messages on the Quant Web

The Quant web interface provides access to messages and communication channels in two locations, each serving a different purpose:

    • Messages in the left-hand menu: Serves as a comprehensive workspace. Clicking on it opens a complete table with an overview of all threads, topics, and historical messages. Here, you can perform advanced management, bulk edits, searches, filtering by tags, or check statistics (the Unread, Unresolved, etc., columns).

Messages on the Web

Messages on the Web 2

    • Messages in the top bar: Serves as a quick hub for real-time chat.  Clicking this icon opens a window for direct communication between the active store and the logged-in user. It is used to send a message immediately or to quickly check the latest notifications from the active store without having to interrupt the task at hand (e.g., viewing a planogram).

Messages on the Web 3

For users who manage multiple stores (e.g., Category Managers), the web interface will always display the channel for the currently selected store. To view the channel for a different store, you must first switch to that store using the search field or the Stores menu.

Message Settings

You can find the message settings in the Messages section, under the Message Settings subsection.

Messages

Message settings affect how messages are displayed in both the Quant desktop and on the Quant website, and are divided into 4 sections:

    • Stores' Channels - In the Enabled for Stores row, you define a list of stores that can use messages. In the Access Stores' Channels row, you define the specific user roles that can post to store messages.
    • Users' Channels — In the Enabled for Users row, you define the list of user roles that can use messages. In the Access Users' Channels row, you define the specific user roles that can post to user messages.
    • User Groups' Channels - In the Enabled for User Groups row, you define the user groups whose members can message each other within that group.
    • Hide the Web Message Window for - Here you can select user groups or specific users for whom the web message window will be hidden.
