Tools in the Document Template Editor

The components inserted into the template can be easily manipulated using the various tools found in the toolbar on the left. This manual explains how to work with these and other useful tools.

The tools used to manipulate the components can be found in the left panel in the Modify section.

Tools in the left panel

In this section you will find an overview of the tools that can be found in the left panel.

How to work with the tools?

The basic tools you will use most often in the Document Template Editor all work on the same principle. These tools are Copy, Move and Rotate.

  1. Select the inserted component (or group of components) in the template that you want to perform an action on (e.g. move to another location).
  2. Click on the tool in the toolbar.
  3. Select a base point to manipulate the component - usually a point on the component itself.
  4. Use the mouse to perform the selected action and click to complete it.

The Copy to Pasteboard and Paste tools are even simpler and do not need to specify a base point.

Other more advanced tools may require more steps or more detailed settings on the right side on the Tools tab.

If you decide to use any tool, Quant always shows you a hint at the mouse cursor so you know what the next step should be.

Shit+P
When this function is activated, components are inserted, copied or rotated at standard angles (multiples of 15). This allows components to be inserted in parallel or rotated by exactly 90°, for example.

Shift+S
It allows components to be easily attached to each other. When enabled, if you approach a corner or the center of a component, that point will appear and the component will snap to it when you click.
Grid
Shift+E
Displays a grid on the canvas, which allows you to see, for example, where the centre of the canvas is, etc.
Components Border
