Automatic Planogram Linking

Automatic planogram linking simplifies and speeds up the process of assigning planograms to fixtures in floor plans. Based on predefined category variants, Quant automatically searches all stores for fixtures that match both the category specified in the planogram and the relevant category variant, and then assigns the planogram to them. This significantly reduces the amount of manual work required.

You’ll find automatic planogram linking particularly useful if you’ve already set up category variants at your stores.

Automatic Linking Setting in the Planogram

To enable automatic linking of planograms based on category variants, you must configure the following settings in the Planogram tab of the standalone planogram's properties:

    • Link Automatically: Check the box to enable automatic linking of the planogram.
    • Variant Name: Fill in which category variant convention you want the planogram to be linked. Here, you should always enter the suffix for the category variant you are using.

If you have planned a master planogram for 6 shelves, and in stores with fixtures that have 6 shelves you use the convention 1/6S, 2/6S, 3/6S, etc., enter 6S here. The planogram will only be linked to fixtures that use this convention. If the fixtures use variants such as 1/5S, 2/5S, or 1, 2, etc., this planogram will not be linked in those stores.

If you are using variants 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., at your stores, leave the Variant Name field blank to link the planogram automatically.

    • Stores: Check the stores where you want to link this master planogram.

    • Shelves by Planogram: The planned master planogram may have a different shelf layout (shelf heights and number of shelves) than the shelf layout configured at the store. If this checkbox is checked in the planogram settings, the shelf layout for the resulting planogram (shelf heights and number of shelves) will be taken from the planogram settings. If unchecked, the shelf layout for the resulting planogram will be taken from the settings in the floor plan.

Automatic Linking with Store Fixtures

The planogram is linked only to the fixtures of those stores that are specified in the Stores row, that have the same category as this planogram, and that use the same category variant convention, which you enter in the Variant Name.

In our case, the master planogram was configured to be linked to 7 stores. In reality, however, it was only linked to 4 of them, because the remaining stores use a different category variant convention.

Specifically, the planogram was set to Category Variant = 6S. This means that this planogram applies only to those stores where the Drinks category has variants containing the suffix 6S (e.g., 1/6S, 2/6S, 3/6S, 4/6S, etc.).

For this reason, the planogram was linked with the fixtures only for stores that comply with this convention, while in others—where category variants are different—the linking did not occur.

In the Stores tab, you can check which stores the planogram has been linked to. An automatically linked planogram is indicated by a checked box in the Linked column.

Automatic Linking

For example, the Dublin store has three fixtures in the Drinks category, using 1/6S, 2/6S, and 3/6S category variants. As a result, they were linked to the master planogram, which was then adjusted to the available space and the sales data of that store.

Linking at the Dublin StoreIf you select a specific store in the Stores tab and press Ctrl+E (Cmd+E), Quant will automatically take you to its layout, where you can see which fixtures this planogram is linked to.
