Manual Planogram Linking

The created master planograms must be linked to the fixtures in the floor plan, which will determine the exact position where you want to display the planograms. The master planogram is then adjusted according to the dimensions and number of linked fixtures and also according to the sales data of the specific store. In this manual, we will show you how to link a planogram to a fixture and other linking settings.

In this manual, you will learn:

  1. How do you link a planogram to fixtures on the floor plan?
  2. Where can you edit the label of a linked planogram?
  3. How can you quickly get from the Store Editor to a linked planogram in the Planogram Editor?
  4. How can you link a planogram that you haven't created yet?
  5. How can you use an existing ordered selection (arrows) for linking?
  6. How can you cancel linking?
  7. How do you delete an ordered selection (arrow)?
  8. How do you correctly set the linking criteria and save them to the library?

If you already have an existing master planogram that you want to link to fixtures, you can use this procedure:

  1. Open the store where you want to link the planogram and activate the Link Standalone Planogram tool (keyboard shortcut P) in the toolbar on the left.
  2. Draw an arrow over the fixtures you want to link to the planogram.

Link Standalone Planogram

  1. In the new window, select the planogram you want to link to the fixtures.
  2. Confirm by clicking OK.

Master Planogram Selection

  1. Check the linking criteria on the right.
  2. Complete the planogram linking by clicking the Apply button on the right (or pressing Enter).

Linking Criteria

If you have already linked the planogram, don't forget to save the store.

Label Editing

Once the linking has been confirmed, a label with the name of the linked planogram will appear in the floor plan in front of the linked fixtures. If you click on it, you can edit its properties (appearance, format) on the right in the Component tab.

Redirect to Planogram from Floor Plan

If you select the label of the linked planogram, you can use Ctrl+E (Cmd+E) to go to the planogram.

Redirect to a PlanogramAfter using the keyboard shortcut, Quant will redirect you to the Planogram Editor, where you will see a preview of the linked planogram for a specific store. The planogram is immediately customized to the given store—according to the fixture dimensions in the store or eventually according to sales data.

Planogram Preview at Glasgow store

By clicking on the Master Planogram button in the Stores tab, you can see what the master planogram looks like. A master planogram is a sample planogram that is not customized for any store. The images show that the master planogram was created for 4 segments, but Quant customized it to 3 segments at the Glasgow store.

In the same way, you can go from the planogram for a specific store to the floor plan and find out which fixtures the linked planogram is located on. Just select a specific store in the Planogram Editor in the Stores tab and use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E (Cmd+E).

Link to the New Planogram

If you want to create a link to a planogram but find that the master planogram does not yet exist, you can create it directly from the planogram selection window by clicking the New button. This will create an empty planogram that can be completed later. In addition, the planogram fixtures will take over the dimensions and layout of the shelves as specified in the floor plan, so there is no need to redefine it. The advantage is that you don't have to think about adding the link in the future.

Using an Existing Ordered Selection

If you already have an arrow (ordered selection) drawn over the fixtures you want to link, for example because you were setting category variants, simply activate the Link Standalone Planogram (P) tool and press the space bar to switch to ordered selection mode and select the existing arrow instead of drawing a new one.

You can also use this procedure if, for example, you find that you have not done the linking correctly (you have selected the wrong planogram or applied the wrong settings in the linking criteria). You do not need to draw a new arrow, just use the tool again and select the existing arrow.

Using an Existing Ordered Selection

To unlink a planogram in the floor plan, simply select the label of the planogram that is linked and delete it using the Delete key.

Deleting an Ordered Selection

You can cancel the linking by deleting the label; there is no need to delete the arrow. However, if you want to delete it as well, select it and press Delete.

The arrow can only be selected if you activate the Ordered Selection tool in the top bar and switch to Selection mode.

Linking Criteria and Library

When linking a planogram, the linking criteria are set on the right in the Tool tab:

Update Categories
    • Checked box = when linking a planogram, the category of the linked planogram is automatically set on the fixtures.
    • Unchecked box = after linking, the category that was set in the floor plan is retained.

So, if, for example, the category Wine is set on the fixtures and you link the planogram with the category Drinks and check the Update Categories box, the category on the fixtures will be changed from Wine to Drinks. Checking this box can be useful if you have not yet set the categorization on the floor plan. This way, when linking the planogram, you can set the categories on the floor plan right away.

Update Sections
  • Checked Box = the Section Name property setting from the Planogram Editor will be adopted.
  • Unchecked Box = the Section Name setting from the floor plan will be retained.

Update Categories and Sections

Shelves by Planogram

The planned master planogram may have a different shelf layout (shelf heights and number of shelves) than the shelf layout set at the store. At the moment of linking, you must decide which layout you want to respect for the final planogram.

    • Checked box = the shelf layout for the final planogram (shelf heights and number of shelves) will be taken from the Planogram Editor.
    • Unchecked box = the shelf layout for the final planogram will be taken from the floor plan.
Change Customer Direction

The customer direction is essential for the final appearance of the planogram. If the customer direction is opposite to the master planogram direction, the final planogram for that store will be mirrored.

    • Checked box = the customer direction will automatically change according to the direction of the drawn arrow. So if you draw an arrow from left to right, the customer direction will be from left to right, and conversely, if you draw an arrow from right to left, the customer direction will be from right to left.
    • Unchecked box = the customer's direction does not change according to the direction of the drawn arrow and remains as set in the floor plan. The default setting for each fixture is from left to right.

You can also save your linking criteria in the library if you use certain combinations of settings more often. You can then easily load them by selecting the relevant row from the library.
